Profitability Monitoring
Review the model before every new paid capability, after provider or package changes, monthly during beta, at least quarterly afterward, and immediately after an unexpected bill or margin incident.
Minimum monthly metrics
- Credit sales, consumed-Credit revenue, outstanding balance, and granted-Credit use;
- subscription MRR and settled subscription revenue;
- provider expense by provider, capability, route, and currency;
- compute, storage, bandwidth, and delivery cost;
- paid and subsidized operation volume;
- contribution and margin by capability;
- account contribution and cost per active account;
- refunds, disputes, failures, invalid output, retry, fallback, and reconciliation rates;
- fixed operating expense, cash burn, and break-even revenue.
Alerts
Investigate when actual provider cost exceeds the approved buffered cost by 10%, rolling capability margin falls below its approved floor, free usage exceeds budget, retry or fallback frequency exceeds its assumption, refunds spike, or price evidence becomes stale.
Repricing decision
Pause or reprice a route when its current configured Credit rate no longer covers the worst allowed path at the active floor Credit value and target margin. Do not compensate by hiding costs, silently reducing output, or exceeding the accepted customer charge.
